③ Your Card

What happens to you mid-competition?

Select the pattern(s) that show up when things go sideways. You'll build a pre-scripted 5-second reset for each one — so it's ready when pressure hits.

Please select at least one pattern to continue.

Edit any pre-filled text. Keep your "Next" cue to 5 words or fewer — shorter is faster under pressure.

Your Physical Reset Sequence

The physical trigger creates a cognitive break before your "Next" cue fires. Choose yours:

Your Refocus Card is Ready

Keep this in your gear bag or phone. Practice triggering it in training so it fires automatically when pressure hits.

Why This Works — Evidence Base

Moran & Toner (2017) — Attentional Control in Sport
Narrow, task-relevant focus cues reduce performance interference under competitive pressure. Athletes who pre-select a focal target recover from disruptions faster than those searching for focus in the moment.
Bernier et al. (2009) — Present-Moment Awareness
Mindfulness-based attention training interrupts rumination cycles mid-competition. Athletes trained to label and redirect attention show lower competitive anxiety and higher flow state frequency.
Wulf (2013) — Constrained Action Hypothesis
A pre-scripted "Next" cue gives conscious attention a simple, contained task — allowing trained motor programs to execute without prefrontal override. This is why prepared cue words work faster than thinking of one under pressure.
